New Mayor for Greater Shepparton

Greater Shepparton Councillor Shane Sali has been elected Mayor of the City, replacing Councillor Kim O’Keeffe who tendered her resignation from the role on Monday.

Councillor Sali will serve as Mayor for the remaining period of the current term alongside Deputy Mayor, Anthony Brophy.

Today’s Additional Council Meeting was called following Cr O’Keeffe’s resignation. She has also applied for a Leave of Absence, which Council says will come in to effect from Friday until the results of the upcoming State Election have been declared.

In an address to Council today, the newly elected Mayor said he was excited to continue to strengthen Greater Shepparton’s stance as a dynamic and prosperous regional city.

“I look forward to working hard together to deliver the important things that matter most for our region,” he said.

“We should be very proud of where we are, we are the benchmark. Greater Shepparton must continue to lead the way.

“I look forward to taking Greater Shepparton to greater heights. I will continue to work hard for the things that matter most and to position Greater Shepparton as the ultimate destination.”
