New intersection for north Ballarat

A northern Ballarat intersection has been made safer thanks to a newly installed roundabout.

The upgrade to the Ring Road/Gregory Street intersection in Alfredton was jointly funded by the Australian Government and the City of Ballarat.

The $1.1 million project received over $560,000 in Australian Government funding under the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) program and the Council contributed $573,102 from its 2022-23 budget.

Work started in February 2023 and is now fully complete.

“As Ballarat grows, this important upgrade will ensure safer travel connections for motorists between Gillies Street to Link Road,” said Mayor, Des Hudson.

“Our investment to upgrade this intersection demonstrates that we are committed to delivering a better Ballarat.”

Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government and Federal Member for Ballarat, Catherine King said programs such as LRCI were important to local communities and support local governments, especially in the regions, in funding priority local infrastructure projects.

“The Australian Government is committed to working in partnership with local, state and territory governments on local priorities, and this project is a fantastic example of that,” Minister King said.
