Liverpool Plains Shire Council has announced the appointment of Cian Middleton as its new General Manager.
Mayor, Ken Cudmore said Mr Middleton (pictured), who previously served as Council’s Director Corporate and Community Services from 2021 to 2022, received the unanimous support of Councillors to take on the General Manager’s role.
“Among a competitive field of applicants, Cian was a standout candidate, and Councillors were united in offering him our support as our next General Manager,” Mayor Cudmore said.
“Cian articulated a compelling vision of improving Council’s corporate performance and prioritising the organisation’s financial sustainability, while working with our community to develop our visitor economy and promote our shire as an enviable destination to live, visit and invest.
“Cian brings experience, energy and drive to his new position as General Manager and we are confident that he has the skills needed to lead the organisation into the future and champion a culture of good governance, genuine community engagement, and responsive customer services.
“On behalf of our Councillors, I would like to welcome Cian back to the Liverpool Plains, and thank our Acting General Manager, Mr Glenn Inglis, for continuing to act in the position until Cian joins us in late April 2025, and enabling a smooth transition.”
Mr Middleton, who currently serves as Deputy General Manager at Narrandera Shire Council in the Riverina, said he was pleased to be returning to Quirindi and rejoining Liverpool Plains Shire Council.
“I’m looking forward to working with the Mayor and Councillors to realise their vision for the community. It’s an incredible responsibility, and I’m grateful for their support to take on this challenge and for the opportunity to work with Council’s staff to deliver outstanding results for all those who live and work in the Liverpool Plains,” Mr Middleton said.
“The Liverpool Plains is such a picturesque part of NSW and it has so much potential, especially as the region continues to go from strength to strength and experience unprecedented growth and investment. It’s a genuinely exciting time for the Liverpool Plains and I look forward to supporting the council in responding to the opportunities and challenges ahead.”
Mr Middleton holds undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications spanning law, business and management. He is admitted to practice in the NSW Supreme Court and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
