Hawkesbury City Council has announced the appointment of Will Barton as the organisation’s new General Manager.
Mr Barton (pictured) has been Acting General Manger since April and was previously the Director of Infrastructure Services, since November 2021.
Mayor, Les Sheather said Mr Barton was the outstanding candidate in what was a high-quality field of applicants.
“On behalf of my fellow Councillors and Council staff, I warmly congratulate Mr Barton on his appointment to the role of General Manager,” Mayor Sheather said.
“Mr Barton brings more than two decades of experience in local government and infrastructure leadership, including extensive senior executive experience across regional and metropolitan councils.
“He was instrumental in helping guide the Hawkesbury’s recovery following the unprecedented series of floods between 2020 and 2024, and my Councillor colleagues and I have full confidence that Mr Barton is the right administrator to lead this organisation as we continue our work to build a Hawkesbury that is loved by its people.”
Mr Barton’s appointment is effective immediately.
