Ben Wood.

Baw Baw Shire Council has announced the appointment of Ben Wood to the role of Director Community Infrastructure.

The Council says Mr Wood is a qualified engineer with leadership experience spanning over 30 years in a range of different industries. His roles have included consulting and capital delivery in both the private and public sectors. Most recently, Mr Wood served as Manager of Operations at Cardinia Shire Council.

“Ben brings with him a wealth of proven experience and expertise leading large scale infrastructure delivery and maintenance,” said Acting CEO, Leanne Hurst.

“He is an inclusive, highly collaborative and humanistic leader with a track record for coaching, enabling and supporting staff to achieve great outcomes. We’re delighted to welcome him to Baw Baw.”

Mr Wood said he was excited to be joining Baw Baw Shire Council.

“Working in local government, our actions go beyond plans and polices. We have the privilege of witnessing the tangible impact our work has on people’s lives,” said Mr Wood.

“Personally, I derive a real sense of purpose and inspiration knowing that the roads we pave and facilities we build shape the environments where people live, where families grow, and where children learn and play.

“At Baw Baw, I’m looking forward to delivering work of significant value that will leave a lasting positive imprint on this beautiful region’s rapidly growing neighbourhoods and communities. I cannot wait to get started.”

Mr Wood will take up the new role on Monday 26 June.
