New CEO for Bundaberg council

Bundaberg Regional Council has appointed Rob Williams as its new Chief Executive Officer.

“Rob Williams is a Local Government professional having worked as a Chief Executive in different Councils with their own unique challenges since 2007,” said Mayor, Helen Blackburn.

“His experience as a CEO, as well as a Chartered Engineer, will be hugely beneficial to the Bundaberg Region as we move forward with the new Council to solve the challenges we face and get back on track.”

The position vacancy attracted 64 applicants from across Australia and New Zealand. Eight candidates were shortlisted and three were interviewed by the Mayor and Councillors.

“It was a large-scale recruitment process, and the final decision was made unanimously by Council,” Mayor Blackburn said.

“We wanted to make sure the best person to lead our organisation was selected.

“I’m looking forward to Rob joining our team as we work together to refocus Council’s priorities and serve all residents in the Bundaberg Region.”

Mr Williams (pictured) will commence in the new role on 26 August.

“Being presented with an opportunity to live and work in Bundaberg is incredibly humbling,” Mr Williams said.

“The Bundaberg Region is one of the most go-ahead locations in Queensland and to be able to play a part in the transition of this wonderful locality into a place that the whole community can feel engaged with and excited about is what every professional in local government dreams of.”
