National recognition for Balonne visitor centre

The Balonne Shire’s St George Region Explore Centre has won national recognition, taking home Bronze for Best Visitor Information Services at the recent Australian Tourism Awards.

The centre was up against a competitive field of eight outstanding finalists – including visitor centres from major cities such as Melbourne and Canberra.

Balonne Shire Council Mayor, Samantha O’Toole said the achievement was a testament to the visitor centre team’s hard work and professionalism in supporting the region’s tourism community.

“To be recognised at a national level is an incredible honour for the St George Region,” said Mayor O’Toole.

“This Bronze award reflects the genuine warmth, local knowledge and professionalism that our team brings to every visitor interaction.

“It also shines a spotlight on the incredible experiences and hospitality our operators deliver day in and day out and we couldn’t be prouder.

“Council extends heartfelt congratulations to the Explore Centre team – their success reflects positively on the entire community and reinforces the importance of collaboration between tourism operators, local businesses and regional councils.”
