Murrumbidgee awards Monash Bursary

Murrumbidgee Council Mayor, Ruth McRae, has announced student, James Clarke, as the 2022 recipient of the $2,000 Murrumbidgee Council Monash Bursary.

Mayor McRae said it was a great pleasure to award James with the bursary at the recent Remembrance Day ceremony in Jerilderie.

In publicly congratulating James, the Mayor described James’ entry as an “insightful and informed essay that was wise beyond his years”.

“This bursary will be a great investment in a young man who will make a difference”, she said.

Next year, James will commence a double degree at the Australian National University, majoring in Economics and Finance. He plans on entering the world of financial services once he finishes his degree, with a long term goal to eventually own a hedge fund.

James thanked Murrumbidgee Council for providing the bursary and assisting people from our area to gain a university qualification.

Council provides the $2,000 bursary annually to students in the Council area as a way of supporting education and also recognising the contribution of Jerilderie’s most famous son, Sir John Monash.
