City of Parramatta Council’s largest sportsground is set for a multi-million-dollar transformation that will include an upgrade of the existing sports fields, new synthetic cricket wickets, solar circuit path lighting and furniture for the community to enjoy.
Doyle Ground is one of seven open spaces identified within the Heart of Play master plan, a blueprint to deliver a network of sporting and recreation spaces across North Parramatta, and the community is invited to have their say on the proposed upgrades.
Lord Mayor, Martin Zaiter said the major revamp was much needed.
“Parramatta is growing rapidly, so it’s crucial that we invest in premium, modern open spaces for local families and sporting groups to enjoy,” Lord Mayor Zaiter said.
“This is about delivering a high-quality sporting facility that accommodates a range of sports, fit for our growing City for many years to come.”
The $9.5 million Stage 1 project is funded by Council and the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grant Program, with construction set to start this year. Planning for Stage 2 is underway, with the further works to be funded and delivered by Council.
Submissions are welcome until 5pm on Wednesday 1 April. Visit Council’s Participate Parramatta page for more information.
