A public electric vehicle (EV) charger has been installed in Mosman, making it the first fast charger installed by a metro Sydney council.
The charger, which is suitable for most EVs on the road, is located in a dedicated two-hour charging bay in the Civic Centre Car Park, off The Crescent, so that residents can access the retail area while their vehicle is charging.
Fast chargers are up to 10 times faster than common “destination” chargers and up to 20 times faster than a dedicated home charger, with most vehicles charged to 80 per cent full within about an hour.
The 50 kW fast charger delivered in partnership with Evie Networks will be powered by 100% renewable energy or carbon-offset energy, with zero carbon dioxide emissions, and users will pay for the electricity through Evie’s app.
The charger and dedicated bay are part of Council’s support for electric vehicle uptake and to help reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
