Mayor returned for Moyne Shire

Councillor Karen Foster has been re-elected as Mayor of Moyne Shire Council following a vote at today’s Council meeting.

Deputy Mayor, Jordan Lockett will join Mayor Foster in leading Council for the next 12 month.

Mayor Foster thanked her fellow Councillors, saying she was honoured to again be nominated for the role.

“I am grateful to receive the support of my fellow Councillors and look forward to serving the community again in this capacity,” she said.

“We can build on the good work of the previous council and intend to create a culture of collaboration and respect to advance the interests of Moyne Shire.

“Moyne Shire has a significant agenda and we will be focusing our Spring Street and Canberra advocacy to gain support for our projects and attention for the issues that matter most to our community – including the condition of state-controlled roads, critical funding for community infrastructure and improving availability of community services including early years.

“Council has a range of significant opportunities and challenges ahead, including improving our roads, maintaining high levels of services standards, supporting community events and
maintenance and upgrades to facilities.”

Today’s meeting was the first of the new council term, with newly elected Councillors Myra Murrihy, Lisa Ryan, Lloyd Ross and Susan Taylor welcomed to the chamber. Councillor Jim Doukas was also welcomed back following his re-election.
