Maroubra residents will soon be able to enjoy a new outdoor gym at the south end of the beach, with Randwick City Council starting construction on the new facility.
The gym will be located next to Maroubra skate park and include a range of training equipment, including an elliptical trainer, a step-up station, a chest press, pull downs, leg press, body pulls and push ups, gorilla bars, parallel bars, pull-up bars, leg raises and sit-up benches.
It is set to open to the public in mid-November and will replace the existing outdoor gym at the north end of Maroubra Beach, which is being uninstalled to make way for an upgrade of the area near the beachside playground.
Randwick Deputy Mayor, Clare Willington said the outdoor gym was part Council’s ongoing commitment to improving public open spaces and recreation opportunities for residents.
“We know how important good health and wellbeing are for residents,” Cr Willington said.
“That’s why we are investing in opportunities that promote physical and mental health and social connections, including building a bigger and better outdoor gym at Maroubra Beach.”
Council opened Little Bay’s first outdoor gym in August and has plans to install a new outdoor gym at Coral Sea Park in Maroubra in the coming year.
