Livingstone Shire Council is partnering with the Queensland Government to deliver more CCTV coverage in Yeppoon.
Funding from the Secure Communities Partnership Program will help boost the safety of the business precinct along James Street and Normanby Street.
Mayor, Adam Belot welcomed the business and community security partnership with the State Government.
“This joint funding will deliver three multi-head CCTV cameras along James Street and the eastern-most block of Normanby St in the Yeppoon Town Centre,” Mayor Belot said.
“This is a key commercial and pedestrian precinct and cameras will be strategically placed at three new locations to maximise coverage of foot traffic and retail frontages.”
Minister for Small and Family Business, Steve Minnikin said the Government was making Queensland safer by partnering with local governments to support small and family businesses and their staff.
“We are making Queensland safer with a boost to CCTV for Yeppoon, helping prevent crime before it happens to reduce the impacts of Labor’s Youth Crime Crisis on small businesses,” Minister Minnikin said.
“We are partnering with councils to implement critical safety upgrades that deter crime and protect local small and family businesses.”
