Liverpool city brings back Ned

Mayor of Liverpool Council, Ned Mannoun, has been returned to the city’s top job after final vote counting following distribution of preferences saw him placed more than 20,000 votes ahead of Labor candidate, Betty Green.

“I am honoured and humbled by the overwhelming show of community support and pledge myself to serve all the residents of Liverpool City,” said Mayor Mannoun, whose vote tally was finalised at 52,369.

“Democracy is an important and vital part of western society. It allows the people to have their say in who shapes their future.

“The most important thing is that the people have spoken and have selected the community leaders they want. The people voted for a clear plan and we look forward to delivering on the plan.”

“I look forward to working harmoniously and productively with the new Council to achieve the best possible outcomes for the city, its residents and those who do business here,” he said.

Dr Betty Green received 32,235 votes following distribution of preferences, followed by Peter Ristevski of Our Local Community with 13,469 votes.
