Lithgow boardwalk rises from bushfire ashes

Reconstruction of Lithgow’s Lake Pillans boardwalk, destroyed in the December 2019 bushfires, is now complete, opening up the unique wetland reserve to the public once more.

ā€œIā€™m sure that many members of the community will be very pleased to know that they can once again visit and enjoy the Lake Pillans wetlands,ā€ said Lithgow Mayor, Ray Thompson.

The December 2019 bushfires completely destroyed the original boardwalk preventing the public from walking around the lake and across to Blast Furnace. Mayor Thompson said Lake Pillans was much loved by the community and a popular destination for walkers.

ā€œThe Lake Pillans precinct is a very good example of Councilā€™s commitment to ensuring that the Lithgow community has first rate environmental, recreational and cultural assets that help make this community a great place to live and visit,ā€ said the Mayor.

Reconstruction works were undertaken by local contractor Central Industries.
