Lithgow approves Main Street footpath design

NSW

Lithgow City Council has completed the final design for its Main Street footpath upgrade.

The tender for construction will be released in September for the section of footpath between Bridge to Eskbank Street.

Council says this section of Main Street has been identified as a priority based on the greater risk posed to pedestrians by uneven pavers.

At this week’s meeting, the Council considered a report regarding the loss of funding from the Federal Government for the Main Street Footpath Replacement project.

“I want to assure Main Street Businesses that the work on Main Street is still moving ahead, and The Council is actively pursuing funding through for the Growing Regions program to ensure we have the funds to deliver the second stage of this project to also renew the section of footpath between Eskbank Street to Cook Street Plaza footpath,” said Director of Infrastructure and Economy, Jonathon Edgecombe.

The Council also resolved to appeal to Federal Infrastructure Minister, Catherine King, for the Government to reinstate the Building Better Regions Fund grant, given the extenuating circumstances of the impacts of natural disasters on Council’s project delivery capacity.
