City of Launceston Council is calling on locals, visitors, and users of Lilydale Falls Reserve to share their ideas and feedback on the future of the much-loved natural spot as part of a new online consultation opportunity.
Located just 30km from Launceston, Lilydale Falls Reserve has a long history as a popular recreational hotspot, known for its stunning waterfalls, historic charm, and recreational facilities, including walking trails, picnic areas, and BBQ shelters.
With the anticipated expansion of the nearby North East Rail Trail expected to bring more cyclists and day-trippers to the area, the Council is seeking community input to help guide future prioritisation and planning and to ensure the reserve remains a sustainable and enjoyable destination for everyone.
Mayor, Matthew Garwood said community feedback was important to help guide council decision making on how best to invest in the reserve in coming decades.
“We value Lilydale Falls Reserve as a key community asset, and this consultation is an opportunity for residents, regular users, and tourists to tell us how the site is currently used and what improvements they’d like to see,” he said.
“From prioritising upgrades to ageing amenities like toilets and playgrounds, to thoughts on camping and potential mobile food vending, your feedback will help inform future funding decisions and ensure the reserve meets the needs of our growing visitor numbers into the future.”
The Council has this week opened community consultation on the Lilydale Falls Reserve on its online engagement platform Tomorrow Together. The consultation includes a short survey where participants can rate current facilities, rank priorities for improvements, and share ideas for new amenities such as bike racks or drinking fountains. Consultation will close on Sunday 26 October.
