Tasmania’s King Island Council is exploring the possibility of bringing a car crusher/scrap metal contractor to the island, launching a public survey to gauge support.
In a statement, the Council said the service would allow it to efficiently process end-of-life vehicles, whitegoods and scrap metal, while freeing up space and promoting sustainability.
“We are currently in the information gathering phase of this project. The more information [the community] can provide in this phase, the better equipped Council will be to inform the progression of this project.”
A public survey to gauge support for the contractor is now open and will close at 9am on Monday, 16 September 2024.
