Kiama Council is trialling open councillor briefing sessions to give the local community an insight into its decision-making processes.
The first briefing, to be held tomorrow, will involve a presentation on the recently released Traffic and Parking Study as well as planning matter regarding Fillmores music venue on Manning Street, Council said in a statement today.
“The trial of opening up councillor briefing sessions is to gauge community interest in attending the sessions,” it said.
“This will then be reviewed to assess whether to make them permanent.
“While the public are welcome to attend the open briefing session, the traditional confidential sections of each briefing will remain closed to the public.”
The sessions will not be livestreamed.
Tomorrow’s briefing session is to inform councillors on matters being decided on at their extraordinary council meeting this Thursday (24 February) at 5pm.
