Nominations have opened for the 2024 Jim Hullick Award, acknowledging extraordinary individuals in the public sector who have achieved outstanding outcomes working alongside South Australian councils.
The award, named after former LGA South Australia CEO, Jim Hullick, honours State and Federal public servants who have gone above and beyond to collaborate on projects with local councils across regional or metropolitan areas.
Last year’s recipient, SA Police Superintendent Scott Denny, was recognised for helping build strong relationships between emergency services, local government, community groups, and state authorities during his time as the Murray Mallee’s Local Service Area Commander.
Public sector workers collaborate with local councils on issues such as health and wellbeing, tourism, infrastructure and transport, regional development and economic growth, biosecurity, and climate change.
LGA South Australia CEO, Clinton Jury said the award was a way to recognise their efforts.
“Federal, State and local government work together on a wide range of projects that deliver real results for communities, and crucial to the success of these initiatives is the connection and collaboration between workers at each level,” Mr Jury said.
“This award celebrates Federal and State public servants who go above and beyond the call of duty when working with councils to foster relationships and achieve positive outcomes for South Australians.
“If you know a public sector star who is kicking goals and going the extra mile in their role, I encourage you to nominate them for this year’s Jim Hullick Award.”
