ISSA Expo 2023: think clean – experience clean

The ISSA Cleaning & Hygiene Expo is returning to Melbourne in November.

Hosted by ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association, the show will return to the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre on 1-2 November 2023. This two-day event will bring together the industry’s leading experts, innovators, and professionals.

This highly anticipated event has experienced year-on-year growth from an exhibitor, floor space and attendees perspective. This year it is set to showcase the latest products, services, and innovations from more than 90 exhibitors.

“The industry is excited to return to Melbourne and it is set to be the largest event to date,” said Lauren Micallef, ISSA Oceania Manager.

“This year we were successful in acquiring additional floor space to help us cater for the show’s early demand which included a mix of new exhibitors as well as past participants taking up bigger and grander stands.”

Visitors will benefit from the 33% increase in hall space, as they will be able to explore a wider range of products and services, and engage with even more industry experts and professionals.

“Where else in Australia can you meet with so many leading manufacturers, distributors and wholesalers in one location, demonstrating their innovations and sharing their industry insight,” said Stuart Nicol, ISSA Oceania Advisory Council Chair.

Shivani Mali, Product Manager, ACCO Brands added, “We were highly impressed with last year’s event – from the number of attendees who visited our stand to the unique opportunity to further educate and provide solutions to the cleaning industry.”

Last year saw a 25% growth in attendees with visitors stemming from over 20 countries.

This year the show anticipates over 3,000 attendees from contract cleaners, facility and building managers to healthcare and aged care representatives, as well as individuals from the government and the education sectors.

“The show provides a unique opportunity for the entire market to connect, foster relationships and uncover the latest innovations and insights,” said Adam Baker, National Marketing Manager, Makita Australia.

“Businesses that move quickly to adopt these latest trends and insights will have a competitive edge in their markets,” added Micallef.

The Expo’s education program will take place over two days and feature 40 speakers, 16 free-to-attend speaker sessions and onsite workshops. It will cover a variety of topics that have been designed to provide attendees with the knowledge and tools to grow their business, develop their staff and remain up-to-date with industry trends and emerging developments.

More broadly, the education program will ensure that visitors from all areas of the cleaning and hygiene industry can receive practical advice from industry experts. A variety of panel discussions between industry thought leaders and stakeholders will expand the number of professionals that the audience can tap into on topics such as infection prevention, technology and innovation, environmental and sustainability needs, supply chain, and workforce development.

For participants involved in contracting workers for cleaning commercial premises, the Expo education program will feature an essential session highlighting labour hire licensing requirements and issues in the industry. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear directly from the Labour Hire Licensing Commissioner, Steve Dargavel, and gain insights into recent compliance and enforcement activities, as well as understand the penalties that can apply for breaches, including the use of unlicensed labour hire services.

A key trend that will be addressed throughout the expo is ‘cleaning for health’. One of the highlights of the education program will be the ‘Clean and Thriving: Unleashing the Power of Your Cleaning for Health Story’ workshop. Delivered by Dr. Gavin Macgregor-Skinner Senior Director, Global Biorisk Advisory Council, the workshop will delve into the importance of creating a healthy indoor environment through proper cleaning and maintenance practices.

“Knowing how to clean for health creates a safe environment for patients, visitors, and workers,” says Dr Macgregor-Skinner.

The Expo will also feature the 2023 INCLEAN Excellence Awards. These awards celebrate the latest innovations and recognise the outstanding achievements of people who work in the industry.

“Last year the awards received the largest number of entries to date, and we are expecting 2023 to be even bigger,” said Micallef.

Awards finalists will showcase their products in the “Innovation Zone” on the show floor, and the winners will be announced during the networking event on Wednesday, providing Expo attendees with an exclusive opportunity to interact with industry leaders, forge valuable connections, and expand their network of business professionals.

In addition to the exciting lineup of speakers, workshops, and networking opportunities, the ISSA Cleaning & Hygiene Expo 2023 is delighted to bring back the popular professional headshot sessions.

This year, we are honoured to have renowned photographer Alan Moyle, a Master of Photography with over 20 years of experience in creating captivating images for businesses, joining us for this exclusive event. The headshot sessions will be split over two days during the Expo, offering attendees ample opportunities to enhance their business portfolio.

This year’s event is a must-attend for anyone interested in advancing their knowledge and expertise in the cleaning sector. Attendees can connect with their peers, learn from experts, and discover the latest trends and innovations that are shaping the future of the industry.
