Hinchinbrook Shire Council has issued a public warning about a phone scam targeting local residents.
In a statement, the Council said it had received reports of individuals in the community receiving calls from someone posing as a Council representative, claiming to be conducting a survey and requesting personal information.
The Council has advised:
- Council is not conducting any phone surveys at this time;
- Be cautious of unsolicited phone calls;
- Do not share personal details, credit card information, or online account credentials unless you are certain of the caller’s identity.
“All official Council community consultations are published on our website:Â https://hinchinbrook.qld.gov.au,” the Council stated.
“If you receive a suspicious call, please report it to Council immediately on (07) 4776 4600.
“Thank you for your cooperation in helping keep our community safe.”
