Griffith City Councillor, Simon Croce, has been honoured for his more than 20 years of dedicated service to the community.
At a meeting this week, the Council formally recognised Cr Croce for his long-standing commitment to the local region.
“First elected on 27 March 2004, Cr Croce has been an active and passionate voice on Council. Throughout his time on Council, he contributed to a wide range of key projects and initiatives and served as Deputy Mayor from 22 September 2020 to 28 September 2021,” the Council said in a statement.
“Cr Croce also played a crucial role on many important committees, including the Griffith Regional Aquatic and Leisure Centre Committee, Traffic Committee, Fairey Firefly Memorial Advisory Committee, Skateboard Advisory Committee, and the Floodplain Management Committee, among others.”
The Council says one of his notable achievements was advocating for the Griffith Yoogali shared bicycle track and bridge, which is currently under construction and will serve as a vital link for the community.
After two decades of service, Cr Croce has decided not to run in the upcoming election, marking the conclusion of his significant contribution to local government.
