Greater Shepparton Mayor returned

Councillor Shane Sali has been re-elected as Mayor of Greater Shepparton City Council for a two-year-term.

In Mayor Sali’s address following the election, he said he was grateful for the opportunity to represent his fellow Councillors, Council office and the wider Greater Shepparton community.

“It is an absolute honour to be elected and to be considered for a leadership role,” he said.

“What’s most pleasing today is that I sit with a team of Councillors, CEO and executive team who are passionate, who not only see what’s possible, but also think practically about how to make it happen.

“In just this first week, it is clear to see that we are a team, and I am proud to be your Mayor.

“I know the processes, I know how to navigate the obstacles and distractions and I understand how the system works and what is clear to me is that you want to be a can do Council that gets things done.

“With my experience and knowledge, I am confident that we can effectively work to deliver what the region demands. Collectively, let’s make that happen.”

Councillor Anthony Brophy was elected to the position of Deputy Mayor for one year.

“I am looking forward to working alongside Mayor Sali, he has demonstrated strong leadership in the past two and a half years,” Cr Brophy said.

“Greater Shepparton is vibrant, it is energised, and it has a massive future. This is a great place to be and I sincerely thank you for your support today as your new Deputy Mayor.”

Council also adopted the Councillors Statement of Expectations for the Mayor.
