Goulburn scores LG rural management recognition

Goulburn Mulwaree Council has been officially recognised for its achievement in the Local Government Professionals Rural Management Challenge.

Initially held over two days in Nowra last November, the challenge brought together councils from across NSW for a rigorous test of managerial skills and problem-solving prowess.

Goulburn’s team showcased their expertise, emerging victorious in their round, the Council said in a statement today.

Their triumph in the preliminary round paved the way for their advancement to the final round, held in Sydney in February.

The culmination of their efforts was celebrated at the 2024 Local Government Awards Dinner held last Thursday, where Goulburn Mulwaree Council was honoured with the event’s second-place award.

“This achievement underscores our commitment to excellence and innovation in local government,” said Council Chief Executive Officer, Aaron Johansson.

“It is a testament to the dedication and talent of our staff, whose tireless efforts continue to elevate our community.”

The Local Government Professionals Rural Management Challenge serves not only as a platform for friendly competition but also as a valuable professional development opportunity for council staff.

Through collaboration, problem-solving, and strategic thinking, participants gain invaluable skills to better serve their communities.

The Council extended its congratulations to all participants and expressed gratitude to Local Government Professionals for organising the event.
