The sale process for Toowoomba Regional Council’s former nursery site at Middle Ridge in south-east Toowoomba starts today.
The Council has appointed Ray White Special Projects to lead a two-stage Expression of Interest (EOI) and tender process for the site.
Economic Development portfolio spokesperson, Councillor Edwina Farquhar said Council expected the marketing campaign would attract significant interest from prospective buyers.
“Council’s former nursery site is a two-hectare parcel in Middle Ridge, which is zoned ‘low-medium density residential’,” Cr Farquhar said.
“The site adjoins an existing park on the eastern boundary, is level and connected to all urban infrastructure with two road access points.
“Council is seeking a low to medium density residential outcome that delivers dynamic, good-quality living opportunities and supports a well-designed neighbourhood feel. This approach will help diversify our city and Region’s housing stock to meet a range of accommodation needs, from families to singles and everyone in between.
“Council’s two-stage EOI and tender process allows developers and investors an opportunity to submit offers together with a concept plan for the site.
“Council will then evaluate those offers based on more than price alone.
“We are particularly interested to see future intent from developers and/or investors based around design outcomes, concept plans, financial capability, innovation and alignment with the Planning Scheme.
“Council’s divestment approach ensures transparency while giving us the ability to negotiate terms such as development commitments, timeframes for key milestones and settlement periods.
“We are keen to see a more beneficial use of this site in a highly desirable part of the city,” she said.
Council resolved in March 2025 to start the sale process for the site. The first round for Expressions of Interest closes on Thursday, 17 July.
