Former Coffs Mayor tenders resignation

City of Coffs Harbour Councillor and former Mayor, Paul Amos, has tendered his resignation from the organisation.

Councillor Amos was first elected as a councillor in 2016 and went on to serve as Deputy Mayor in 2021 before being elected Mayor following the December 2021 local government elections.

He served as Mayor from 2021 to 2024 and remained on Council as a councillor following the 2024 election.

During his time as Mayor, he oversaw the opening of a number of major community facilities, including Wiigulga Sports Complex, two synthetic fields and the Hub 2 at the C.ex Coffs International Stadium precinct, as well as a major redevelopment of Sportz Central.

“On behalf of City staff, I’d like to thank Cr Amos for his significant contribution during his time as a Councillor and Mayor and thank him for his service to the Coffs community,” said Council General Manager, Murray Wood.

“Councillor Paul was on Council during a challenging time for our community which included flood, bushfire and the COVID pandemic. I wish him all the very best with the next chapter of his life,” said Mayor, Nikki Williams.

Cr Amos’s resignation, effective tomorrow, will result in a by-election to fill the vacant position on Council.
