Federation council to host drug and alcohol think tank

The Federation Community Drug Action Team (CDAT) is hosting a Think Tank aimed at local drug and alcohol service providers and community support networks.

Federation Council Mayor, Patrick Bourke said The Federation CDAT was a group of passionate local service agencies and volunteers who had identified the opportunity to host a Think Tank that identified drug and alcohol services and support in the local Federation Council area and solutions to challenges.

“It will provide a chance for service providers and local community support networks to come together to highlight what is available, to work together in identifying how we can build on this and solutions for issues raised,” Mayor Bourke said.

Service agencies and community networks are invited to two facilitated workshops:

• 1.00pm – 2.30pm Wednesday 7th July – to identify what is working well in the service provision and support space – recognise, celebrate and build on . And issues and gaps in relation to service provider abilities towards having an impact on the reduction on reliance of drugs and alcohol in the Federation community.

• 1.00pm – 2.30pm Wednesday 28th July – to identify potential solutions that will influence impactful and positive sustainable change within service provision throughout the Federation Council area and opportunities for ongoing collaboration between agencies currently active in this space.

The Mayor said the Federation CDAT, through its collaboration efforts and initiatives, was aiming toward building a healthier and more resilient community through the prevention of and reducing the harms associated with drugs and alcohol.

The CDAT is funded through NSW Health and administered by Federation Council.
