The City of Parramatta is inviting concept designs from artists or artist-led teams for the delivery of a creative lighting installation within its Phillip Lane development.
Council says a total budget of $185,000 (excluding GST) will be made available for design, fabrication and installation of the lighting design.
Shortlisted applicants will also receive an additional honorarium fee of $2,500 to develop their concept.
Late last year, Council launched Phillip Lane in the Parramatta CBD with a grant from the NSW Government’s ‘Streets as Shared Spaces’ program. The precinct was activated with lighting, temporary plants, live music, tables and chairs.
“In April, Council was notified that it was the successful recipient of additional funding under the NSW Government’s ‘Your High Street’ grant program for permanent embellishments of Phillip Lane,” Council said in a statement.
“Council has endorsed that the scope to be delivered under the grant includes improved lighting with decorative elements and street art/murals.
“The primary objective of improving amenity within Phillip Lane is to create an environment that supports outdoor dining activity on weekend evenings into the future. Council is looking to collaborate with artists and creative consultancies who can help deliver bold, original and innovative ideas to our city.”
