The Shire of East Pilbara has joined the Australian Mining Cities Alliance (AMCA).

The AMCA is an alliance of councils from key mining regions that includes:

  • City of Karratha (WA)

“AMCA works to ensure that mining cities receive equitable policy attention, funding, and infrastructure investment to support sustainable growth. AMCA is pleased to announce the inclusion of the Shire of East Pilbara as its newest member,” the Alliance said in a statement.

“This strategic addition strengthens the Alliance’s commitment to fostering economic and social development across Australia’s mining regions.”

AMCA Chair and Mayor of the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Glenn Wilson, expressed his enthusiasm for the Shire’s membership.

“We are delighted to welcome the Shire of East Pilbara into the Australian Mining Cities Alliance. Their inclusion brings valuable insights and perspectives, enhancing our efforts to address the unique challenges and opportunities mining communities face nationwide,” said Mr Wilson.

Shire President of East Pilbara, Anthony Middleton, shared his anticipation for the collaborative prospects ahead, saying that joining the Alliance presents an exciting opportunity for the Shire.

“We look forward to working closely with fellow members to share knowledge and strategies to drive sustainable growth and prosperity in our region,” he said.

Established in 2017, the AMCA is a collaborative platform for mining cities and regions. It aims to progress economic and social development, share experiences, and advocate for improved state, territory, and federal policy settings.
