The 2024 Guardian Disaster Management User Group Conference kicked off today in Ingham, proudly sponsored by Hinchinbrook Shire Council.
The event, which runs until Thursday 22 August, brings together disaster management professionals, council representatives, and industry experts to explore the latest innovations in emergency management technology.
Today’s official opening featured a welcome from Deputy Mayor, Mary Brown, and ceremonial hand over of the Guardian Shield, symbolising the ongoing commitment to building resilient communities through improved communication in communities throughout Queensland.
Attendees were introduced to the latest features of Guardian IMS, as well as highlights regarding significant updates to Action Plans and Situation Reports, demonstrating the platform’s evolution in supporting disaster management operations.
CEO of QIT Plus, Chris Madsen, led a review of recent activations, including responses to fires, severe storms, and Tropical Cyclone Jasper.
The session provided valuable learning and emphasised the importance of continuous improvement in disaster response strategies, Council said in a statement.
A key focus of the day was the introduction of dynamic form automation in Guardian IMS. The new features allow for automatic incident creation and enhanced report generation. The day also featured a presentation by Simon Igloi, Silver Sponsor LiXiA, showcasing the power of leveraging the Internet of Observationâ„¢ for disaster management.
The day concluded with a sneak peek into future developments for Guardian IMS, including exciting enhancements like push notifications and timeline features. Attendees also explored the latest mapping enhancements, which allow users to control, create, and share their own map layers within Guardian IMS.
