Coffs Harbour City Council has terminated the contract of its long-time General Manager, Stephen McGrath, by mutual agreement, effective immediately.
Mayor, Paul Amos said the Council sincerely thanked Mr McGrath (pictured) for his dedicated service over the past 11 years.
“The achievements under his leadership are considerable however we feel that a different style of leadership will be more suited at this time,” Mayor Amos said.
He said Mr McGrath had led the implementation and delivery of a number of significant programs and projects in his time as General Manager, including the Jetty Foreshores revitalisation, C.ex International Stadium redevelopments, the Wiigulga Sports Complex, and the securing of more than $125 million in government grants over the past three years.
Mr McGrath indicated he was extremely proud of Council’s community response through the bushfires, floods and COVID-19 and wished the new Mayor and Councillors all the best in managing a sustainable future for the Coffs Harbour community, Council said in a statement today.
The General Manager position will be filled temporarily by senior staffer, Chris Chapman, with recruitment for a new General Manager to commence immediately.
“I would like to assure the community and staff that the new Council will work hard to ensure a smooth transition,” said Mayor Amos.
