Coffs Harbour annual report delivers for ratepayers

City of Coffs Harbour Council Mayor, Nikki Williams says the organisation’s newly-released Annual Report details its unwavering commitment to ratepayers.

The report covers the 2024-25 financial year and it reflects on the City’s significant achievements in implementing the Delivery Program, said Mayor Williams.

“The highlights reel for this period includes the opening of the Woolgoolga Whale Trail, the redevelopment of Brelsford Park, the new Nature Discovery Centre at the Botanic Garden and record nominations for the Yandaarra Aunty Grace Roberts Community Awards,” she said.

“It also explores the strong visitation we’ve recorded at our sport and cultural community facilities. That includes the hugely popular Swell Chasers surf exhibition at YAM and the start of a three-year partnership with rugby to bring elite level entertainment to Coffs.”

Council Acting General Manager, Andrew Beswick, cited the milestones of a refresh of the MyCoffs 2035 Community Strategic Plan and the development of the new four-year Delivery Program.

“This is important planning for the way ahead for our community, and it is underscored by our commitment to maintain a balanced and sustainable financial position,” Mr Beswick said.

Adoption of the Resource and Waste Strategy 2025-’41 was another watershed, he said.

“This gives us a clear long-term direction for sustainable waste management which will embed the principles of a circular economy in our approach to waste minimisation.”

The report highlights a range of infrastructure works, from road and bridge renewals through to flood resilience initiatives.

“We also saw the full replacement of the Boambee Creek footbridge, lifeguard tower renewals and the attractive and structurally important revetment wall and boardwalk at Englands Park, Coffs Creek,” Mr Beswick said.

Wiigulga Sports Complex.

Mayor Williams said the emergence of the Wiigulga Sports Complex was another green shoot for the community.

“It’s fantastic to see Wiigulga continuing to gain momentum as a key regional venue,” she said.
