The Productivity Commission has commenced its second review of the National Agreement on Closing the Gap, with submissions now open until 26 October.
The Australian Local Government Association (ALGA) has been engaging with the Commission to ensure local government perspectives are reflected in the review, particularly given councils’ role in delivering services and supporting Closing the Gap outcomes.
The Review will focus on practical actions to accelerate progress, with a draft report expected in April 2027 and a final report to be provided to Joint Council in August 2027.
The Commission has published a paper to help people make a submission. The paper outlines the proposed focus of the review and key questions for consultation.
