City of Hobart thanks departing CEO

The City of Hobart Council has publicly thanked Chief Executive Officer, Kelly Grigsby, following the news that she will be departing the organisation to return to Melbourne.

In her two years with the City of Hobart, Ms Grigsby has been instrumental in leading significant organisational transformation, said Lord Mayor, Anna Reynolds.

“On behalf of the Elected Members and staff I would like to personally thank Kelly for her professionalism, dedication and hard work and we wish her all the very best for the future as the Chief Executive Officer at the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV),” the Lord Mayor said.

“It’s great to know that Kelly will be continuing her influential leadership in this preeminent role in the local government sector in Victoria.

“Kelly has established the key foundations and built the leadership team which can continue the good work of the City to ensure Hobart thrives.

“Kelly has brought a passion for good strategic planning that has seen the city thinking in a more evidence-based and innovative way about preparing Hobart for change and growth.

“She’s also taken leadership in advancing many innovative urban solutions, like the work she has done to secure federal funding for ferries.”

During her time in Hobart, Ms Grigsby has designed and implemented a new governance framework to strengthen elected member and community engagement in policy and strategy development after the last council election.

“The organisational capability that’s been built over the last two years augers well for the future of the City,” said Lord Mayor Reynolds.

“I’m confident that the City’s Executive Leadership Team will continue this great work after Kelly leaves.

“I will be working with Kelly to manage a smooth transition to an interim CEO to ensure continuity, particularly considering the uncertainty around potential local government reforms.

“In the meantime, it’s business as usual as Kelly will continue in her role with us for some time yet.”

Ms Grigsby will leave the organisation in late July.
