Work is underway on the final stage of the Cessnock Civic Indoor Sports Centre (CCISC) refurbishment.
The works represent the final stage in the centre’s refurbishment, which will provide a quality indoor, all-weather facility that can be utilised by a host of local community sports and specialised interest groups.
The scheduled works include painting of external surfaces, the installation of treads over the front step entry, and replacement of glass louvres and external emergency doors.
Council says the work is expected to be carried out over the coming weeks and completed by June 2021.
Cessnock City Mayor, Bob Pynsent said community groups would benefit from the additional improvements to the facility.
“The Cessnock Civic Indoor Sports Centre is a great community asset,” the Mayor said.
“This work will allow the Centre to be enjoyed by community groups in the Cessnock Local Government Area well into the future.”
Council has completed upgrades to the interior facilities in recent years, including improvements to flooring, lighting, and the Centre’s kiosk and change rooms. The upgrades have been partially funded through rental income received from organisations that currently use the facilities.
