Cessnock lets the dogs out

Cessnock City Council has unveiled a new off-leash dog exercise area.

Council says the Greta Central Oval Off-Leash Dog Exercise Area adds vibrancy to its community recreational offerings, providing a dynamic space for residents to exercise and socialise their dogs.

The initiative involved fencing around an existing off-leash area, transforming it into a high-quality designated space for dogs to play, exercise, and socialise. The enhancements also include a basic agility course, landscaping and supporting infrastructure, providing improved access to water, comfortable seating, and waste disposal bins.

Mayor, Jay Suvaal said the project, which was supported by the NSW Government, provides local residents with the new and updated facilities they’ve been calling for.

“We’re happy to announce the Greta Central Oval Off-Leash Dog park is now complete and open for business,” said Mayor Suvaal.

“This project is a testament to our dedication of providing top-notch facilities for our community, including our four-legged friends.”

Minister for Agriculture, Regional NSW and Western NSW, Tara Moriaty congratulated the Council on the new park.

“I would like to congratulate Cessnock City Council on the opening of the Greta Central Oval Off-Leash Park. I look forward to supporting future initiatives to improve community access across Regional NSW,” she said.
