The latest data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics has shown building approvals in Tasmania have hit a two-year high.
The new figures released today show 221 building approvals went ahead in September – an 11% increase on September 2024.
Minister for Housing and Planning, Kerry Vincent said the result was a positive outcome for Tasmania’s building and construction sector.
“This latest data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics is most welcome,” Minister Vincent said.
“This increase in building approvals is a positive sign for our residential housing market and the broader economy.
“We want to see more Tasmanians realise their dream of owning their own home and that’s why we are tripling the First Home Owner grant.
“The latest data is a positive step in the right direction and will encourage further investment in training and employment.”
