Brisbane council ‘sickened’ by neo-Nazi flyers

Brisbane City Council says “sickening” neo-Nazi flyers have been discovered plastered to traffic poles just days after racist propaganda was distributed in Moorooka and Annerley letterboxes.

The racist propaganda (pictured) was glued to Council traffic poles at the intersection of Milton, Park and Baroona roads in Milton, claiming ANZACs died for a ‘White Australia’.

Council says the offensive flyers were reported by three people last Friday and removed the same day. The material has been reported to the Queensland Police counter-terrorism command.

The offending flyer.

The flyers follow reports of anti-Jewish, anti-immigration material calling on “white Australians” to join the National Socialist Movement being distributed in Moorooka and Annerley letterboxes.

“We are incredibly lucky to live in such a harmonious community, which our war heroes fought for and died to protect,” said Brisbane Deputy Mayor, Fiona Cunningham.

“It’s repulsive that individuals are exploiting our ANZACs to perpetuate evil and division in our community.

“Brisbane is an incredibly vibrant multicultural community and we must all do what we can to protect that by stamping out hateful and divisive behaviour.”

Council has been contacted 93 times regarding racist and antisemitic matters between 5 October 2023 and 9 February 2025, with the highest number in West End, Toowong and South Brisbane.
