Brisbane City Council is offering local businesses free one-on-one coaching to achieve their 2025 goals, with applications for the Council’s Growing Precincts Together Program now open.
The program was established in 2022 and has since worked with more than 65 businesses in the Racecourse Road, Rosalie Village, Wynnum Town Centre and Banyo Village retail precincts.
“Brisbane is an incredible place to live, work and relax and we are committed to supporting the businesses that make our suburbs even better,” said Lord Mayor, Adrian Schrinner.
“The updated version of this program will allow us to work with businesses across the suburbs who might need a bit of extra support coming into the new year.
“Whether you are an experienced trader looking to hone your skills, or a new business wanting expert advice, we encourage you to take advantage of the varied programs available across Brisbane’s business network.”
The Council says the program has been revamped for the new year and is now open to retail precinct businesses across all Brisbane suburbs with professional mentorship available across three different courses:
- Business Coaching
- Business Coaching for Food Businesses
- Visual Merchandising
Up to 20 positions will be available per course and each course will include a mixture of one-on-one consultation and hands on learning to address the specific challenges of different businesses and industries.
“Brisbane is home to more than 134,000 small businesses and almost 300 retail precincts and each one of those businesses contributes to our great lifestyle,” said Chair for Economic Development, Nighttime Economy and the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Councillor Krista Adams.
“We are experiencing fantastic momentum across our business community and now is the time for entrepreneurs to upskill and prepare for a bright future ahead.

Businesses looking to start the new year off right can also enjoy several free support programs in Brisbane including:
- access to a 24/7 Business Hotline
- access to more than 2000 grants worth $59 billion through our Funding Finder tool
- free events at Council libraries which can help businesses learn more and develop their skills
- a full-service workspace at the Brisbane Business Hub which regularly hosts free events and workshops run by industry professionals.
“As a small business owner and sole operator, managing every aspect of my business was overwhelming. Much of my daily work was focused ‘in’ the business rather than ‘on’ it,” said Tara Shohet, Owner and Brow Whisperer at Enigma Cosmetica, Banyo.
“Receiving business coaching through the Council’s Growing Precincts Together initiative provided clarity on key areas beyond my daily operations and future projections. Since implementing these strategies, I’ve seen a steady uptake in business.
“I’m incredibly thankful for this opportunity and now feel confident about achieving sustainable longevity and growth opportunities.”
Applications for the Growing Precincts Together Program are now open and will close on 28 February 2025 with personalised programs commencing in March.
