Blue Mountains City Council and the community have come together to celebrate the annual Blue Mountains Seniors Week Recognition Awards.
The awards were held as part of the NSW Seniors Festival and acknowledged the contributions of 27 individuals and one organisation from across the Blue Mountains who assist in the wellbeing of older residents.
The recipients were awarded for their dedication, energy, creativity, generosity and tireless dedication to seniors and the community.
The awards were officially opened by Blue Mountains Deputy Mayor, Romola Hollywood and Councillor Mick Fell, representing Mayor Mark Greenhill and delivering a speech on his behalf.
“I want to thank personally on behalf of Council all you special individuals and organisation for your continued efforts. You are the reason we have an inclusive, caring and vibrant community,” said Mayor Greenhill.
“To all of you here today, however you have come to be here, I want to say that while your efforts are focused on the senior members of our community, what you do has a ripple effect.
“Your caring attitude, your generosity, your friendliness and your community-spirit is felt throughout our Blue Mountains and is a very important part of what makes this such a wonderful place to live.”
