Blue Mountains City Council has opened applications for its expanded Propel: Performance Pathways program, which offers performing artists an $8,000 stipend, creative space, professional mentoring and production support to develop new work or progress existing projects.
Mayor, Mark Greenhill said the expanded program would help artists take the next step in their careers.
“Propel gives artists the practical support they need to turn ambitious ideas into new work, build industry connections and reach new audiences,” he said.
“This expanded program will strengthen the vibrant performing arts communities of the Blue Mountains and Western Sydney.”
Delivered by Council in partnership with Western Sydney arts organisations, Propel supports artists working in music, theatre, comedy, spoken word, performance art, dance, sound and multidisciplinary practice.
Participants will receive an $8,000 artist stipend, space to develop their work, industry mentoring, marketing and production support and opportunities to present a showcase, workshop or other public program.
The program welcomes diverse artistic voices, including First Nations artists, artists with disabilities or working with communities, experimental or emerging practitioners.
Propel is funded through the Create NSW Western Sydney Strategic Partnerships Program and the Blue Mountains City of the Arts Trust.
