Candy Bingham has been re-elected as Deputy Mayor of Northern Beaches Council – her third time in the role.
The election was precipitated by the postponement of the Local Government elections from 4 September 2021 to 4 December 2021 due to COVID-19. The term of the previous Deputy Mayor was due to expire on 4 September.
Mayor, Michael Regan said it made sense for Councillor Bingham, who represents the Manly Ward, to continue in her role until the end of the current Council term.
“Councillor Bingham brings a depth of experience to the role and is a strong advocate for her local community, working well with all Councillors and staff,” he said.
“She has been doing a great job in her role as Deputy Mayor and I am pleased she will continue on through to the end of this Council term.”
Cr Bingham will hold the position until the end of the Council term or up to a period of no more than one year to allow for any further postponements to local government elections.
