Bayside expands apprenticeship program

Sydney’s Bayside Council is looking for six young locals who are keen to work while learning on the job.

Council is expanding its apprenticeship program that provides an opportunity for the successful candidates to kick-start their careers with on-the-job training while studying for a recognised qualification.

The six roles on offer are: Apprentice Parks Operations, Apprentice Greenkeeper, Apprentice Welder, Trainee Early Childhood Educator – Certificate III, Trainee Civil Construction, Trainee Business Administration (HR, Finance or IT).

“Council, working in partnership with My Gateway, is keen to provide opportunities that will help produce skilled tradespeople who are qualified to continue with a career in local government or the private sector,” it said in a statement.

“Successfully completing a Trainee or Apprenticeship with Council improves employment opportunities, as many employers are looking for candidates who have qualifications and hands-on experience in a real working environment.”

Under the program trainees will also have access to mentors, coaches, and other training opportunities.
