Baw Baw Mayor nominates for Narracan election

Mayor of Baw Baw Shire Council, Annemarie McCabe, has announced her nomination as a candidate in the Narracan Supplementary Election to be held on 28 January.

The election is being held following the death of a candidate during the November 2022 State general election, which resulted in a failed election for the Narracan district.

“As such, and as per the MAV Guidelines, Councillor McCabe will take a leave of absence effective immediately until the election is complete,” Council CEO, Mark Dupe said in a statement.

Deputy Mayor, Michael Leaney will act as Mayor, also effective immediately, for the duration of the election period, Mr Dupe said.

“Administrative procedures are underway to ensure Council business continues and, importantly, all relevant processes and conventions are followed,” he said.
