The Town of Bassendean Council is seeking volunteers as it prepares to launch a new Volunteer Transport Service for local seniors.
Council says volunteer drivers will need to be available between 8am and 3pm on one or two weekdays each week, hold a current C class driver’s licence, a current police clearance, live close to the Bassendean area and be able to commit to volunteering for one year or more. For safety, volunteer drivers will undertake training before driving for the service, the Council said.
When suitable volunteer drivers have been recruited, the Council plans to launch the Volunteer Transport Service: a shuttle service for ambulant seniors who require assistance in reaching community activities, shopping, and medical appointments in proximity to Bassendean, it said.
