Bass Coast Shire Council has re-elected Rochelle Halstead as Mayor and Councillor Brett Tessari as Deputy Mayor.
Mayor Halstead said she was honoured to continue leading a Council that has worked hard to strengthen its planning foundations and partnerships.
“We’ve established a solid framework that gives us confidence in where we’re heading. Our Community Vision and Council Plan provide the direction, and now it’s about delivery,” she said.
“Our focus over the next 12 months will be on major priorities such as advocating for aquatics in the region, the redevelopment of Wonthaggi Secondary College, improving local transport and health infrastructure, and continuing to create thriving, connected communities across Bass Coast.”
Deputy Mayor Tessari, now in his third Council term and a third-generation Wonthaggi local, has previously served as both Mayor and Deputy Mayor. He said he looks forward to supporting the Mayor and strengthening Council’s collaborative approach.
“We’ve got a great team, a clear plan and a strong sense of purpose,” Cr Tessari said.
“Our community has been clear about what matters – education, housing, jobs and local services – and we’re well placed to advocate for and deliver on those priorities.”
Council’s focus will remain on delivering key projects, strengthening partnerships with other levels of government, and ensuring the long-term sustainability and liveability of the region.
