Balonne Shire Council is calling for community feedback on proposed amendments to the Balonne Planning Scheme aimed at improving growth and development outcomes in the Shire.
Since the planning scheme was introduced in 2019, Council says it has been working to make improvements that will support continued growth and achieve development outcomes that enhance local amenity and liveability.
Mayor, Samantha O’Toole outlined how growth and liveability were key drivers for the amendments proposed to the Balonne Planning Scheme.
“Our Planning Scheme is an important mechanism to help guide our long-term plan for how we want our Shire to be in the decades ahead,” Mayor O’Toole said.
“The proposed amendments we have proposed will help to facilitate continued growth in the commercial, industrial, residential and rural sectors.
“They will also help to improve development outcomes to enhance the amenity and
liveability of the Shire.
“I would encourage anyone with an interest in the future of our Shire to attend one of your closest community information sessions to talk with our planners, or go to the Council website to make a submission.”
From 4 September 2023 to 3 October 2023, Shire residents will have the opportunity to have their say on the proposed amendments.
