The Victorian Government has opened applications for its $10 million Creating Safer Places grants program.
Through the grants program, Councils can apply for up to $250,000 to buy practical upgrades such as CCTV and improved lighting.
This will help councils protect local businesses, workers and customers by making shopping strips and community spaces safer, said Minister for Crime Prevention, Paul Edbrooke.
“Councils have been asking for more support to make their communities safer, and Labor is listening,” said Mr Edbrooke.
“These are simple, practical measures that will deter crime and make people feel safer in the places they live, work and spend time.”
Applications for the Creating Safer Places grants close on 26 October.
