Adelaide Hills EOI opens for assessment panel members

The Adelaide Hills Council is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced members of the public for the Council Assessment Panel (CAP).

The CAP is an important committee of Council with responsibility for determining planning applications for a wide range of developments in the Council area. It has a very significant role to play in hearing the submissions of persons who made representation during the public notification process and in giving due consideration to the representations in the assessment of a development against the planning guidelines, the Council said in a statement.

The CAP consists of four independent members of the public and one Councillor pursuant to the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016. The monthly scheduled CAP meetings are held at Stirling on the second Wednesday of every month at 6.30pm.

The Council is seeking applications for the four independent member positions (including an independent Presiding Member) from experienced professionals who have the required skills and knowledge and accreditation as an Accredited Professional – Planning Level 2, with knowledge of the Adelaide Hills Council area.

The Presiding Member will also need to have significant experience in chairing meetings and a working knowledge of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 and Planning, Development and Infrastructure (General) Regulations 2017.

Council pays sitting fees for the independent members of CAP. Ordinary independent members are currently paid a sitting fee of $420 (excl. GST) per meeting while the Presiding Member is paid $550 (excl. GST) per meeting. These fees are scheduled to be reviewed this year.
